Ingredients
Method
- Prepare your chasen by briefly soaking the tines in glass or bowl with warm water for about 20-30 seconds to soften them.
- Sift the matcha into a small bowl and add a tiny your room temperature water and stir with the chasen to create a smooth paste.
- Add the hot water and use the 30-20-10 whisking method (whisking for 30 seconds, 20 seconds, and 10 seconds with short breaks) until foamy. Set aside.
- In a tall glass, add the strawberry puree and strawberry syrup.
- Fill 3/4 of the glass with ice then pour the cold milk over the ice, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
- Carefully pour the whisked matcha over the milk to create the final layer. Stir well before enjoying.
Notes
To keep the layers distinct, pour the milk and matcha slowly. Using whole milk or oat milk provides the best creamy contrast to the earthy tea. I didn't add any other syrup because the strawberry puree and strawberry syrup already provides enough sweetness for my personal preference, but you can add your preferred sweetener if you enjoy a sweeter drink.
