Apple Pie Latte

A cozy, single-serving hot latte featuring homemade, spiced apple pie syrup, espresso, warm milk, and an optional creamy topping.

Ingredients
  

For Apple Pie Syrup (Yields 6-8 Servings):
  • 1 cup diced apples peeled
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
For Latte Assembly (1 Serving):
  • 1-2 tbsp Apple Pie Syrup (depending on desired sweetness)
  • 1 NescafĂ© Dolce Gusto espresso pod (may use double shot espresso or strong brewed coffee)
  • 1 cup warm milk
Optional Topping:
  • 3 tbsp cream
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • caramel sauce for drizzle

Method
 

  1. In a saucepan, combine diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Heat until sugar melts, then add water. Cook until apples soften. Turn off heat, strain apples, and add vanilla extract. Let cool completely.
  2. If desired, froth 3 tbsp cream with 1 tbsp milk until thick (optional).
  3. Add Apple Pie Syrup to cup. Brew espresso pod into the cup and stir.
  4. Add warm milk, then gently stir the coffee mixture.
  5. Top off with frothed cream and drizzle with caramel sauce.

Notes

The syrup must be fully cooled before use. If you like sweeter drinks, use 2 tablespoons of syrup; otherwise, use 1 tablespoon.
